Since its formation in 2009, all activities have been in support of Riverside County Health Coalition's mission through policy development, advocacy, environmental change and community empowerment. RCHC has added representation from many sectors such as school districts, community businesses, local and regional organizations, and other community stakeholders. Through these partnerships, RCHC has been successful in securing outside funding for its activities. In 2010, the coalition was awarded $60,000 for two years by the Kaiser Foundation Hospitals to build capacity and to ensure its sustainability. In 2011, RCHC was awarded a one million dollar HEAL Zone Initiative grant from Kaiser to coordinate a place-based environmental and policy change intervention in the Eastside community of the City of Riverside. Many partners, including CAP Riverside, Riverside Community Health Foundation, Riverside Unified School District and the City of Riverside are working together to facilitate change in the community.
